Everyone’s Art Site Back on Track

Due to roof repair works in 2025, the Art Site of Railway Warehouse, Hsinchu City (hereafter referred to as the Art Site) was temporarily closed to the public. During this period, most of its programs were carried forward in collaboration with nearby cultural partners, allowing artistic practice and exchange to continue circulating within the city. Even while closed, the Art Site was fortunate to receive attention and coverage from the Japanese magazine D Design Travel, offering an alternative perspective through which the long-term local practices and cultural energy of the site could be rediscovered.

For the team, this recognition was a deeply encouraging affirmation. The value it acknowledged was not measured by visitor numbers or operational data, but rather rooted in cultural depth accumulated over time, and in the sustained, sincere exchanges among artists, local communities, and visitors.

As the Art Site reopens, this exhibition revisits and presents works by artists from past residencies. These works are not only outcomes of individual artistic practices, but together form an evolving relationship between the Art Site, the city, and everyday life. Rather than merely looking back, the exhibition seeks to use this moment of reopening to invite renewed reflection on what an art site can be—and what it might enable—as a public cultural space.

With this in mind, we would like to pose two questions to everyone who has walked into the Art Site before, as well as to those who have yet to step inside:
What does it mean to you to have an art site as part of everyday life?
What would you hope to do in an art site?
