Chang's Monument Gateway
The Chang's monument gateway was built to honor the good deed of Chang JiaoLian who was the wife of Jeng YunJing. Jeng YunJing married Chang JiaoLiao as his second wife in 1820. After Jeng passed away, Chang brought up their three children by herself and was very obedient to her mother in law. She had had been a widow for 49 years. Her chasteness was praised by the government, and the emperor permitted to build the monument gateway in 1866.
The Chang's monument gateway had four pillars, three door in width and three levels in height. The material was mainly from Chuanchou's white stone, and combined with some chindow stone (light green cooler) sculpture. It was different from other monument gateways in Hsin Chu, the Chang's monument was shorter but wider; especially the first and second levels with the outward stretching up curing end on both sides, which was a unique difference.
