Yang's full name was Yang ChuNian who was the wife of Lin Chu. Her husband died while she was only 24, and she took care of her children alone as a mother and a father even a teacher. She died at the age of 45. Because of her faithful for her husband, and doing good job to bring up her children, plus, taking good care of her husband's parents, all of these good deeds deeply moving people at that time. 
 
In 1819, the governor general Don ChiaoChang and FuCheng official Chikwan informed her good behaviors to the emperor, and the emperor permitted to build the Yang's monument gateway in 1824. Yang's monument gateway was also the first monument gateway built in Hsinchu. 
 
The Yang's monument gateway had four pillars, three door in width and three levels in height. The white granite and chindow stone were from ChuanChou.  
 
There were two dragons holding the imperial edict on both sides. In the middle , there was another board " Sky praises chastity" , which meant that the emperors bestowed this monument and praised her good deeds.  
 
Her stories was written on the lower part of the stone boards, every details of the monument gateway were lively and with historic value.
